Twilight Time Trial #3

This five-race series will take place on the Tuesday evenings of May. Online registration will open April 1st. The Twilight Time Trial Coburg course is 15.1 miles of flat roads with a gentle right curve and two right hand corners. The road surface is generally predictable with a few potholes near the fogline in the first three miles. A map of the course can be found HERE. A Ride With GPS file can be found HERE. Racers will start at 30 second intervals starting at 6:30pm. Non-motorized bicycles with two brakes (or fix gear bicycles with one brake) are allowed (see Section 15.5.1). Race numbers will be worn on your right side. You may wear your OBRA race number (preferred) or a race number will be provided. Number pickup will be available from 5:30-6:25pm. Please check in even if you are using your OBRA race number to confirm your number is correct on the start list. The start list with starting time will be emailed to registered racers by 4pm. Results will be posted when available at https://obra.org/results. This is an OBRA sanctioned event and an OBRA annual or single event membership is required

Entry fee

$15/night, $65 for the 5-race series ($10 for juniors, $45 for junior series).

A 2022 OBRA (Oregon Bicycle Racing Association) racing license is required; $5 for one-event or $40 for annual license ($10 for junior racers). You can buy an annual license at any time at obra.org or at the time of purchasing your registration.

Online registration is available until noon on each day of the series. Race waiver for the series must be completed by the racer (or guardian if the racer is a minor) and can be completed online during registration.

*Eddy category specific rules: Riders in the class will compete without: aero bars or extensions, disc wheel, fairings, aero helmets (any helmet specifically built as an aero helmet and any helmet that has been modified to approximate a helmet specifically built as a TT helmet is not allowed), skinsuits, or wheels with rims greater then 40mm in depth. Bicycles which may have aerodynamic shapes but are designated to be sold as road bicycles (and are not user modified time trial bicycles) ARE allowed.   

Important Race Info:

  • The Coburg Community Charter School is graciously allowing us to use their parking, but further use of their grounds is not permitted. If you bring a trainer for warmup, set it up by your car, not on the grass or under the awnings. Porta-potties will be provided near the start line.

  • DO NOT stop or stand EVEN MOMENTARILY in the emergency vehicle exit lanes at the Coburg Fire Station near the start/finish. Obstructing the exit lanes of emergency vehicles or personnel before, during or after the race may result in disqualification.

  • Helmets are required anytime you are on the bike: before, during and after the race. 

  • No drafting is allowed. Overtaking riders should call out loudly and pass on the left (while staying right of the centerline). Riders being passed should stay to the right as possible and must not block passing riders.

  • The CENTERLINE rule will be enforced. Any centerline violations may result in disqualification.

  • Always be aware of what is in front of you. DO NOT RIDE WITH YOUR EYES DOWN.

  • The roads on the course are open to traffic. Racers are expected to stay to the right as possible to minimize impact on local traffic.

  • Please extend good will to the residents and business owners of Coburg with your courteous manners and purchases at local businesses.

Prizes:

Twilight Operations will award $100 cash to the fastest men’s and women’s time of the month (excluding tandem and recumbent). Points awarded to the top 10 finishers of each category each week, points combined for the final total. Awards ceremony after the final race of the series to announce top finishers and there will be raffle prizes randomly selected. Must participate in the final race and be present to win.
